DeKalb Co. musician to be honored at Fiddlers Convention

DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A lifelong DeKalb County resident will be honored at the upcoming Fiddlers Convention.

Marvin Downer will receive the Roland Walls Lifetime Achievement Award. Convention organizers will present the award to Downer at the annual event next weekend.

Downer is known for his hits with the Sand Mountain Playboys and for leading his own group, Marvin Downer and the Bluegrass Four.

The 106th Fiddlers Convention is June 7 at the Rotary Pavilion in Fort Payne.

    Three adult males and one juvenile were arrested in Limestone County on Thursday after a four-hour manhunt and charged with multiple counts stemming from a string of vehicle thefts.Three adult males and one juvenile were arrested in Limestone County on Thursday after a four-hour manhunt and charged with multiple counts stemming from a string of vehicle thefts.

    A ground search ensued that lasted about four hours and covered approximately six miles, ending a few hundred yards east of Hays Mill Road where the suspects were caught in a hunting stand/shoot house.
