HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The Better Business Bureau is issuing an alert about a wave of bogus emails floating around that could trick you.

A "red alert" upgrade has been issued for this scam and the BBB is working to take down the site behind it.

Officials said you should watch out for emails that claim you are the subject of a consumer complaint filed with the New York office of the BBB.

Inside the email link to a complaint response page, which if clicked will install malware on your computer.

If you get one of these emails, you are asked to alert your local branch of the BBB. Click here to reach the BBB of North Alabama.
