Two men were arrested for allegedly stealing cattle in DeKalb County.

David Grant Fulmer, 28, of Collinsville, and Eddie Ray Fulmer, 31, of Albertville, were arrested early Wednesday morning. The men were charged in connection with the theft of more than 50 head of cattle.

Authorities said some of the stolen property has been recovered and the investigation is ongoing. Both men were booked into the DeKalb County Detention Center with additional charges pending against them.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris released this statement in connection with the thefts:

"We are glad to get these guys. The farmers were getting very protective and were concerned about something happening. It is hard to imagine how these people feel to have what they work so hard for taken from them. I understand how they feel because I have farmed most of my adult life. I hope this will stop the problem in the New Harmony community.

We have had a very busy weekend and this helps us close two very important cases this week. We have two bank robbers and two cattle thieves in jail and we are continuing to work these and other cases.

I appreciate all the help we received on this case from the Agriculture Rural Crime Unit. These investigators are very familiar with these types of thefts and have contact all over the South to track cattle and livestock movements. This is another case of working together with all available resources to solve crimes."
