LOUISVILLE, KY (WAFF) -

Police in Louisville KY have arrested a man that Decatur authorities said took a child from grandparents who have full custody.

The grandparents told Decatur Police that the father, Ted Hirsch, was supposed to take his son to Ashville to visit another child. However, Hirsch took the child to his residence in Louisville, ignoring the grandparents' demand to return the child to Alabama.

Decatur detectives traveled to Louisville, and with the assistance of authorities there, located the 7-year-old boy with his father Tuesday evening.

The child was released to a nearby relative, with the grandparents en route to pick him up.

Ted Hirsch is being held in the Louisville Metro Jail on a charge of interference with custody. Extradition is pending. His bond has not been set.
