ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

TV news crews pride themselves on digging deeper during investigative reports and in the stories we report to you every day.

But digging deeper underneath a vehicle to reach a snake is not usually part of our regular duties.

Monday afternoon, Huntsville reporter Sarah Navoy and photographer Todd Wade were in Limestone County AL, preparing Sarah's stories for evening newscasts, when they discovered a snake had made itself a fairly comfortable new home in the wheel well of their live truck.

Sarah and Todd said the snake was about four feet long. They tried for over an hour to coax the snake out from the vehicle. They even tried backing the truck slightly, which seemed to be working toward coaxing the animal out. After making a brief exit, the snake went back inside the vehicle's undercarriage.

"He crawled back in," Sarah wrote in an e-mail to the newsroom. "I screamed… Loudly. He's freaking big."

With a bit more patience and the reporter's steely nerves, the snake finally made a permanent exit from the vehicle, unharmed.

Its whereabouts after encountering the news crew are unknown.
