TN Valley Memorial Day services to honor veterans

NORTH ALABAMA (WAFF) -

On Monday, Memorial Day services will take place across the country, including right here in the Tennessee Valley.

Many people are off of work, and there are lots of events happening in different areas. There are two in Huntsville, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

First, there is a ceremony at Maple Hill Cemetery. This starts at 10:30 a.m. in the veterans section. The Huntsville Concert Band will play a medley of patriotic songs to start it off.

The other ceremony will start at 3 p.m. at Glenwood Cemetery. The ceremony will include a military salute and remarks from military officials. The public is invited to attend and help reflect and honor those veterans who have passed on.

In Madison, a service will take place at the Veterans Park in the Village Green downtown at 11 a.m.

A service will be held at the Lawrence County Courthouse in downtown Moulton at 10 a.m.

In Guntersville, an event will be held at 11 a.m. at the Marshall County Courthouse on Blount Avenue.

    A school bus accident occurred Friday morning in Decatur.  The accident occurred at 11th St. SW and W. Moulton St. around 9:30 a.m.  Bus No. 27 reportedly collided with a pickup truck, resulting in serious damage to the side of the vehicle.  The bus sustained only minor damage.
