MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Former Montgomery Police Department's police academy trainee, who is the subject of a sexual assault investigation involving a juvenile family member, will have his cased transferred to circuit court.

During his initial court appearance, Jaboris Walker, 25, was notified of his rights and the charges against him, three counts of felony first degree sodomy. His bond was set at a total of $280,000 and it has now been lowered to $180,000.

Investigators were called to the 3800 block of Happiness Avenue around 3 a.m. Sunday May 25 following a reported sexual assault. During the investigation Walker was arrested. As the investigation continued, police reportedly uncovered another victim.

Walker was employed as an MPD trainee in January and was currently attending the Montgomery Police Academy. Walker's employment with MPD was terminated following his arrest.

Walker was also involved in a faith-based organization -- Crossroads Ministries International, which is based in Georgia with an apparent office in Montgomery.

According to the organization's website and a source close to the investigation, Walker carried the title of lead staffer and youth minister.

WSFA 12 News reached out to a high-level administrator for Crossroads Ministries International, who declined to comment on the situation, but added he holds Walker in high regard.

WSFA 12 News talked to a neighbor who lives near the home on Happiness Avenue. Shonta Edwards said she assumed at the time of Walker's arrest that someone was injured.

"We were out here at the time of the incident, and we didn't know what had actually occurred," Edwards said. Edwards was floored when she watched the news Sunday night and learned Walker had been arrested.

"As far as we knew, they were quiet people. My kids usually play with these same kids. It's just a sad situation," Edwards said. Edwards says she's been forced to have tough conversations with her children about where they can go and who they can trust.

"My prayers go out to them. Those are really small kids, and he's ruining little kid's lives, and this is something they are going to have to deal with all their lives," Edwards said.
