ETOWAH COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Etowah County shut down its operations Saturday evening.

The center located at Sardis City Hall closed at 6 p.m. However, those affected by tornadoes can still register for federal aid.

The deadline to do so is July 1. To apply, just log onto their website or call 1-800-621-3362.

Federal aid for victims of the April tornado outbreak in Alabama topped $15-million. $12-million of that was approved for individuals and $3-million for business owners.

FEMA officials said they still have nearly 1,000 damaged properties to inspect.
