HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Parker Griffith is talking up his plan to expand Medicaid if elected.

Griffith unveiled his plan in three cities including Huntsville. Friday afternoon, he also announced that the Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, Steve Clouse, is now supporting the idea of the Medicaid expansion.

"He no longer agrees with Robert Bentley," said Griffith. "We must reform it, and we must provide health care for 300 to 500,000 Alabamians."

Griffith claimed his plan will include more than 30,000 new jobs. A $2.1-billion boost to the state economy and health care coverage for at least 191,000 uninsured Alabamians.

Governor Bentley has stated that he will not expand Medicaid because it's a broken system. Alabama is one of the 24 states that hasn't expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.
