FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Dozens of college teams spent the week in Florence competing for the National Collegiate Bass-Fishing Tournament.

Teams from across the country tried their luck on Pickwick Lake with the title at state. Despite the heat, teams continued to bring in some pretty large fish on day two.

"It feels good being on your home lake, actually knowing some lakes," said Ryan Cole with the UNA Fishing Team. "We got into other tournaments and have to learn the new lakes, and learning everything. Its kinda tough. Its kinda hard to go to another lake and only have two days to practice, and then trying to figure out where the fish are and when you're here on your home lake, and you fish it every day. Its kinda easy just to pull up on a spot and know there are going to be there.

A team from the University of Georgia took home the title Friday afternoon. UNA finished in third and fourth places.

David: Showers and storms ongoing across the Valley

    Saturday, March 25 2017 5:50 PM EDT2017-03-25 21:50:37 GMT

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
