FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Pledging to never forget, members of the Shoals chapter of the Disabled American Veterans spent the day taking donations in Florence on Friday.

They were raising money to help with their efforts to help disable veterans in the area. They assist with medical rides, bills, and other needs.

As we approach Memorial Day, these veterans want to make sure those who made the ultimate sacrifice are not forgotten and that we help take care of the ones still alive.

"We just want people to remember, that's all," said Daniel Pounder, the Disabled American Veterans Chapter Commander. "Their services for this country. Memorial Day is for all of us. We've lost a lot of people in World War 2, and all of the wars. We have lost too many people, and too many that are crippled and have disease, and we're trying to keep the ones that survived. They need all the help they can get."

The veterans will be back out at Sam's on Saturday morning.
