Arrest made in Athens burglary investigation

ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

Athens Police have arrested one person and expect to make more following a burglary investigation.

They arrested Christine Collier on Thursday afternoon on a warrant for burglary of the third degree. Collier was accused of breaking into a residence at North Hines Street between April 25 and April 26.

Officials said a silver tea pot, a 42 inch television, a drill press, a ban saw, an electric sander, a hedge trimmer, an electric blower, and a weed eater were taken. They said several of the items were located in pawn shops.

Collier was booked at the Athens Police Department and transferred to county jail. The investigation is ongoing and Athens police expect to make more arrests.

    A ground search ensued that lasted about four hours and covered approximately six miles, ending a few hundred yards east of Hays Mill Road where the suspects were caught in a hunting stand/shoot house.
