(WMC) - A one-time Elvis impersonator says people still have suspicious minds about his alleged involvement in a plot to poison the president of the United States.

Suspicious letters that tested positive for ricin were sent to President Barack Obama and Senator Roger Wicker, R-MS, last year.

Officials cleared Kevin Curtis, but he says he continues to deal with criticism and harassment. The prime suspect possibly changing his plea may not help.

Curtis no longer impersonates Elvis Presley full-time, but he says The King's "Suspicious Minds" is a good theme song for his life.

"Cause everyone looks at me with suspicion," he said. " 'Wonder if he did do it?' "

The Corinth, Mississippi resident was arrested last year on charges of sending ricin-laced letters; charges were later dismissed. Though Curtis claims he still lives with the stigma.

"I've had my brake lights busted out, my tires slashed, home vandalized, yard furniture burned," he said.

Prosecutors say James Dutschke, who once worked for his brother, framed Curtis for the crime. But just this week, Dutschke said he wanted to withdraw his guilty plea.

"This day, I have no idea who this man is, why he hates me, why he framed me in a presidential assassination," said Curtis.

Curtis says it's all anyone wants to talk about to this day. In an attempt to solidify his innocence and restart his career, a documentary entitled "I Didn't Do It" is in the works.

Curtis performed a fund-raising concert in Oxford on Thursday night, which included Elvis songs and some of his own.

"There was no press conference to say, "Hey, this guy's completely innocent." I would like for that to happen," said Curtis.

Curtis is suing James Dutschke in state court and would like to sue the federal authorities for false arrest, if possible.
