Couple in wrong-way crash in Lowndes County remain hospitalized

LOWNDES COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

One person remains in critical condition tonight after a wrong way crash in Lowndes county Thursday.

A couple from England was driving a sedan West in the eastbound lane on Highway 122 near Miller Road. They came around a curve and slammed into an oncoming frito lay truck.

The driver of the car was transported to South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta with head injuries.
The passenger was airlifted to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida where she remains. Charges are pending.

GSP said the couple had only been in the area since Wednesday. The driver of the frito lay truck received some bruises but was not seriously hurt.
