Today, the Athens City Schools Superintendent will announce plans to upgrade and improve the district's schools.
Some young Worth County authors have won a national award.
Sheila Calhoun's 4th and 5th grade TAG students are winners in the National Book Challenge.
Each student drew a picture and wrote a page that they compiled into a book.
Worth County Elementary entered the competition for the first time this year, and their book was one of 30 chosen from around the country.
The students were blown away when they found out they won.
"Ms. Calhoun said everyone, we won! We got nominated for an award, then everyone just went crazy," said 5th Grade tag student Jordan Cury.
"I always though we could, but I never thought that we actually would," said 4th Grade TAG student Olivia Yonce.
Calhoun is proud of her students and thankful for their hard work. She plans on submitting another book next year.
