SYLVANIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The man accused of stabbing a 72-year-old woman to death in Springfield Township faced a judge Friday morning.

Police arrested and charged Adam Akers, 41, with Judy Uyttenhove's murder at the Royal Village Mobile Home Park on Dorr Street Thursday. Akers has been living in the home with her and his father for several weeks.

According to the Lucas County Coroner's Office, Uyttenhove was stabbed 13 times, mainly in the chest and some on the side.

The daughter of the victim broke down in the courtroom Friday, begging the judge to ask Akers why he killed her mother. Family members say they just want to know why.

"I just want to ask him why he did this to her," said Uyttenhove's daughter.

Akers' bond was set at $1 million.

He asked the judge for a lawyer, and told the judge he does not have a job.

The lead detective for the case says they may never know a motive as to why she was murdered. However, he says it does not appear that money was a factor.
