ETOWAH COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The trial for Joyce Garrard has been delayed again.

Garrard is charged with capital murder in the death of her granddaughter, 9-year-old Savannah Hardin. Investigators say Savannah died after Garrard allegedly ran the girl to death as punishment for eating a candy bar.

The girl's stepmother, Jessica Hardin, is also charged in the case for not stopping the punishment.

At Friday's hearing, the judge did not hear Garrard's motions for a change of venue or to suppress evidence in the case. Those motions will be heard on June 16.

Garrard's trial has been pushed to Sept. 22.

Garrard remains in jail as she awaits trial.
