Tucson, AZ -

For 34 years James Frazier's mark had stood untouched.

Then came Nick Ross.

On Saturday, May 3 at the UA-ASU-NAU Double Dual, Ross set a new school record in the men's high jump competition with his clearance of 7-6.5 (2.30m). The previous school record of 7-6 (2.29m) was set by Frazier on May 10, 1980.

Ross also set a facility record for Roy P. Drachman Stadium, the previous record of 7-5 (2.26m) was also set by Frazier on May 9, 1981.

His 2.30m jump is currently No. 1 in the country and is No. 5 in the world this year.

"It was a big relief," Ross said. "It's a big weight off my shoulders, I've been working so hard and training so hard. I've been jumping at the school record in multiple meets now but it was nice to finally get it."

Our David Kelly talked with Ross about the Road to the Record.
