MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A Texas man was arrested Tuesday in Madison County for allegedly violating the Alabama Securities Act, according to Madison County officials.

In April, a Madison Grand Jury indicted Mark E. Rodgers, of Houston, Texas, on 18 counts of violations of the Alabama Securities Act and 15 counts of fraud in connection with the sale of securities.

According to the indictment, Rodgers acted as an officer for Samarion, Inc., a company based out of Jackson, Mississippi. Rodgers is accused of illegally offering and selling shares of the company stock without being registered with the Alabama Securities Commission.

Rodgers is in jail on $255,000 bond. The case is set to go to trial Aug. 4 in Madison County.
