HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Thunderstorms will be scattered around the area Wednesday ahead of our next cold front. Widespread severe weather is unlikely, but a few storms could approach severe limits through the afternoon.

All severe weather events are not the same and this one looks like a relatively low impact one.  Our main concerns today will be isolated wind gusts of 60-70 mph and hail approaching quarter-size. Heavy rain and frequent lightning will also accompany the stronger storms. The tornado threat appears to be low.

Storms may develop just about anywhere today. The strongest storms are expected to occur between noon today and 8 p.m.

Be sure to check back with the WAFF 48 Storm Team on-air, online at WAFF.com, on our mobile news and weather apps, and on social media for updates throughout the day.
