TOWSON, MD (RNN) - Hours after ramming a truck into a TV station's lobby and barricading himself inside, a man claiming to be "God" was taken into custody by Baltimore County Police on Tuesday afternoon.
The unidentified suspect was armed with a golf club when he was arrested, the Baltimore County Police and Fire Department tweeted.
Police said the man, who may suffer from mental illness, watched television coverage of police response while he was in the station.
Brian Kuebler, a reporter at WMAR, stated on Twitter that a man tried to get into the building while screaming "let me in" and said he was "God."
"[He] got into a landscaping truck and rammed the building like 3 times," Kuebler tweeted. "I saw least 3 as he broke through into lobby."
Kuebler also tweeted that truck looked like an F-350. Police say it was stolen and belonged to a Montgomery County landscaping company, who had no comment.
The man entered the Baltimore-area ABC affiliate, and staffers were ordered to leave. All of the employees were accounted for, Kuebler said.
Baltimore County Police said there had been no reports of injuries or confirmation that suspect is armed.
Police received a call at 11:45 a.m. ET for the initial disturbance of the man banging on the door. The vehicle was stolen from a local landscaping company, WMAR reported.
A SWAT team was seen surrounding the building with weapons raised.
"Heard thumping. Looked out newsroom door and watched what looked like a F350 just slam through vestibule & shatter front glass doors #team2," tweeted Jeff Herman, managing editor at WMAR.
Some staff members from ABC 2 News shared their reactions via Twitter after being evacuated from the building.
A nearby elementary school was also placed on lockdown during the incident.
