South GA billboards ask for help finding missing north GA woman

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Electronic billboards in south Georgia are now showing ads asking for information about the mysterious disappearance of an elderly Putnam County woman.

Shirley Dermond hasn't been seen in a week. Investigators think she was kidnapped when her husband was murdered at their home on Lake Oconee.

His beheaded body was found last Tuesday. Investigators were back at the home Monday searching for evidence.

Fairway Outdoor Advertising is running a plea for tips on four billboards in the Albany area and two in Valdosta. The ads show Mrs. Dermond's picture, announce a reward for information, and ask that tips be called in to the FBI at 404-679-9000 or the Putnam County Sheriff's Office at 706-485-8557.
