LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A massive wildfire near Lake Meredith continued to burn Monday night. It started Sunday and led to evacuations in the small town of Fritch, which is north of Amarillo.

The Texas A&M Forest Service reports that the fire has burned across nearly 2,600 acres and has damaged or destroyed 89 homes. Crews now have the fire 65% contained.

We've learned that six people from Lubbock will now be assisting. Four crewmen from Lubbock Fire Rescue, and two from the City of Lubbock left Monday evening. They'll mainly be helping with logistics, and are expected to be in the area for three days according to LFR Sgt. Rob Keinast.

In the meantime, if you would like to help those affected by the fire, you can donate to the American Red Cross. You can donate online at http://redcross.org/donate, text REDCROSS to 90999 to give $10, or send a check to American Red Cross, 2201 19th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79414.
