HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The Kentucky Derby may be over, but controversy surrounding travel packages to see the famed race are being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Better Business Bureau officials said a number of people bought a travel package including tickets to the Derby from a company called Derby Deals. At least 17 customers report they didn't receive the goods and services they were promised, like the tickets.

Michele Mason with the BBB said this happens a lot with big sporting events.

"Check with the hotels to make sure they really are booking rooms with them. Make sure they can show proof of having tickets to an event like this Derby. You need to go behind them and confirm they're arranging those for you," Mason said.

Mason said if you can, get the company to mail the tickets to you in advance, and do your homework to make sure they are legitimate.
