ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

Athens police officers arrested a registered sex offender for failing to carry identification with him as required by law.

Officers responded to an unwanted guest call at the Mark Motel on Highway 31 Saturday afternoon. The owner told officers there were several people in one of the rooms causing a disturbance.

When officers checked on the people in the room, they located Jerry Wayne Thompson, a registered sex offender. Thompson did not have identification on him when asked for it by officers, and was arrested for violation of identification requirements.

Thompson was booked at the police department and transferred to the Limestone County Jail.
