Police say a man was attacked with a baseball bat in East Nashville over the weekend.

Witnesses started calling 911 saying someone was being beaten over the head with a baseball bat in a parking lot off Gallatin Pike.

By the time police got to the scene, the suspect had allegedly fled.

One of the witnesses was able to write down the license plate number of the suspect's car, and police tracked him down.

Darren Hudson, 24, was arrested at his home.

He allegedly told police he attacked the victim because he owed him money.

Hudson is charged with aggravated assault.
