LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Longview Fire Department is on the scene of a vehicle fire on the loop this evening.

Witnesses say that a white Ford truck went up in flames as the result of a one-vehicle accident. Officials on the scene say the driver of the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed, southbound on Loop 281. When he attempted to turn onto McCann, he lost control of the vehicle and hit the traffic signal pole.

Bystanders were able to pull the driver to safety before the truck went up in flames, according to Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary. He has been transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center with injuries.

Traffic is congested in the area, so drive with caution, or better yet, avoid the area.

We will bring you updates as they become available.
