ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

Crews in Athens have started the debris removal process. So far they've collected about 40 percent of storm related vegetative debris.

They will continue to work to remove debris over several weeks. Residents are asked to separate vegetation from bulk trash items.

Move trees and limbs to the right of way as soon as practical. Do not put debris in the streets or in ditches.

The estimated cost to the city's general fund for all storm-related recovery is $1-million with the bulk of that due to debris removal.
