Man charged with child porn possession cuts deal

JACKSON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A Jackson County man charged with more than 50 counts of possessing child porn cut a deal and will serve just five years on probation.

Late Thursday, Joshua Metzger pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing obscene material of someone younger than 17. The judge handed down a 10 year sentence on each count to run concurrently.

Metzger immediately asked for probation and the judge agreed. Metzger won't go to jail and will spend the next five years on supervised probation.

He will also have to register as a sex offender.

    Just after 1 p.m. Monday, Albertville Police were called to respond to a fight on Highpoint Rd. When they arrived on the scene they found someone shot.  The victim was unable to be life flighted due to heavy cloud cover and was instead taken to Marshall Medical Center South.  Police are still investigating the incident.
