HUNSTVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Alabama hunters will be allowed to start using silencers in the field by the fall.

The State Department of Conservation repealed a ban against the suppressors earlier in the week. New regulations should be in effect by the fall hunting season.

You'll need a federal permit for a silencer, and they run about $200. Alabama was actually in the minority on the issue before.

More than 30 other states already allow noise suppressors for hunters.
