That morning cup of joe might just be doing more than wake you up. According to a new study, coffee could potentially be preventing eye damage brought on by aging, diabetes or glaucoma.

Coffee contains a strong antioxidant called chlorogenic acid that has been shown to prevent retinal degeneration in mice, according to the study.

Scientists said in previous studies that coffee cuts the risk for chronic diseases like Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and prostate cancer.
