HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Federal court documents reveal a Huntsville man facing several sex abuse charges also faces federal charges in New York.
Carl Herold and his domestic partner Charles Dunnavant are charged with more than three dozen criminal charges including sex abuse, sodomy, and aggravated child abuse.
Investigators say the men sexually abused the child continuously, did not allow the child to attend school and held him "effectively captive" for eight months.
The case against Herold is out of Herkimer County, New York. The indictment states Herold made child pornography with a child under the age of 10. He's accused of transmitting that pornographic material.
The ten count indictment against Herold is dated Dec. 19, 2013. The file also includes an order to seal the case so that further criminal investigations were not jeopardized. A federal judge unsealed the case this week.
A trial date has not been set for the federal charges. Herold and Dunnavant are scheduled to go to trial in Madison County in August.
Herold remains in the Huntsville-Madison County Metro Jail on a $1,346,000 bond. Dunnavant is jailed on a $938,000 bond.
