Gov. Bentley requests additional federal aid for five more counties

MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) -

After additional damage surveys, Governor Robert Bentley has requested five morecounties receive additional federal disaster aid.

If approved, Blount, DeKalb, Etowah, Mobile and Tuscaloosa counties could receive additional aid from FEMA.

FEMA officials visited areas in Etowah and Tuscaloosa county Tuesday. They declined to comment to FOX6 News.

"It is important for every Alabamian impacted by last week's storms to have the assistance they need to recover and rebuild their lives," Governor Bentley said in a press release. "We have completed the joint damage assessments with FEMA in Blount, DeKalb, Etowah, Mobile and Tuscaloosa counties, and are requesting federal assistance for the citizens who live there. We will continue to work with our local and federal partners to get help to the people that need it."

Four other counties - Jefferson, Lee, Limestone and Baldwin - have already been approved for FEMA aid.
