FRANKLIN COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

Jimmy Dimora is suing the Ohio State Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (DRC) and the private company that owns the Northeast Ohio Corrections Center (NEOCC) in Mahoning County, where Dimora was housed before being transferred to federal prison.

Dimora claims that on May 4, 2012 he slipped and fell due to a puddle of water on the floor. He says in the claims that the puddle came from a leaky roof that the prison neglected to fix.

The 58-year-old inmate filed two separate lawsuits, saying he suffered from injuries after the fall. The claim doesn't specify the type or severity of the injuries.

Dimora is seeking $50,000 in damages from both the Ohio DRC and Corrections Corporation of America, who owns NEOCC.

Dimora is serving a 28-year federal sentence for corruption convictions. He is currently being held in a federal prison at Victorville Prison in California. His recent appeal to reduce his sentence was struck down by a federal appeals court.
