Goodwill to host community job fair May 8

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

In observance of Goodwill Week 2014, the Goodwill Career Center in Midtown will host a job fair May 8 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The event will open at 9 a.m. for veterans and Goodwill Education and Training clients. It will be held at the Goodwill Career Center in Midtown, located at 2601 Cross Country Drive, Building A.

More than 20 employers from various industries will be on site, including Goodwill, Kinetic Credit Union, Hughston Clinic, Enrichment Services, PC Human Resource, Parkwood Healthcare, Legal Shiels, Joynus Staffing, Manpower, Cricket Wireless, Aaron's Sales and lEase, Afni, Inc., Select Staffing, Waffle House, Staffing Connections, Service Solutions, Road America, Panasonic, Hardee's, Whatley Oil, Beck, McDonald's and TJ Maxx.

A retail and customer service resume-writing lab will be held Wednesday, May 7 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Columbus East Career Center to prepare job-seekers.

Goodwill's mission is to help individuals with disabilities or disadvantages here in the community to secure sustainable employment through education, training, work experience and career placement services. 

All of these programs, including job fairs, are made possible through donations of gently used clothing and household goods that are sold at Goodwill Retail Stores.

    William Huff terrorized Sierra Vista during the spring and summer of 1967. Despite a sentence of 40 years to life, the Arizona Board of Executive Clemency voted to release him from prison into home arrest. Family members of the victims are concerned for the safety of the community, as are new members of the Clemency Board. CBS 5 Investigates videotaped Huff riding a bike through his Tucson neighborhood. There are no restrictions placed on his proximity to children.
