HARTSELLE, AL (WAFF) -

A Morgan County home was gutted by fire Tuesday. Firefighters had to take action to keep it from spreading to the house next door.

Authorities said the fire started around 11:30 a.m. at a home on Kaylee Loop Road in Hartselle.

Somerville, Hartselle and Priceville Fire Departments responded to the scene. Crews first fought the fire from outside, and then from above before going inside and dousing flames from room to room.

Officials said breezes kept fanning flames, and there was concern the fire would spread to another property. Crews sprayed the roof of the neighboring house in precaution.

"The way the wind was blowing, it was blowing some of the fire and heat toward the neighboring house," said Dustin Holbert with Hartselle Fire. "We had another of our members grab another line and he started cooling the house down."

No injuries were reported. Authorities have not released a cause at this time.
