FYFFE, AL (WAFF) -

An investigation is underway in DeKalb County following a stabbing that happened Saturday.

The incident took place on County Road 327 near Fyffe, after someone threw a woman into a pond.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris said 911 received a call of a fight in progress at the location just after 3 p.m. Saturday. Deputies found Freddie Wooten on the ground, bleeding from the arm with multiple stab wounds.

Deputies aided in slowing the bleeding until Wooten was transported to the hospital. They later learned Wooten had thrown Jessie James McCollough's girlfriend in a pond, which prompted the stabbing.

Sheriff Harris said they are now attempting to talk with the victim to see if he wants to press charges. No arrests have been made.

Wooten was treated and has since been released from the hospital.
