PRENTISS, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Prentiss police officer is out of the hospital after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night.

WLBT has learned that the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations is assisting with the investigation.

Officials have confirmed that a vehicle backed over the unidentified officer.

His injuries are not known at this time, but we were told that he has been treated and released from a local hospital.

The suspected has been identified as Andreas Deone Shackleford of 186 Kirby Road, Hillsboro, AL.

Shackleford is described as a black male standing 5'7" tall, weighing 160 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Highway 13 and 84 in Prentiss about 9:45 p.m. Saturday.

When we called the Prentiss Police Department for comment, we were told that Chief Charlie Dumas could not be reached Sunday and would not be answering our calls until Monday.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Shackleford is asked to contact the Mississippi Highway Patrol at 601-987-1530.
