HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville police said they determined a suspicious device was not a bomb after an investigation on Mason Court Saturday morning.

The alert went out around 10:30 a.m. Police said a resident had called after finding the object, and police responded and set up a 500-feet perimeter.

Police said a bomb squad was on the scene and the immediate area was evacuated.

Authorities said they sent a robot in to take video of the object, and they determined it was a discarded metal cylinder, not a bomb.

The area is now clear.
