HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Competitors have already fired up their grills for this year's WhistleStop Weekend in downtown Huntsville.

The event opens to the public Friday at 4 p.m. When it comes to BBQ, there is both an amateur and professional competition. Teams from all over the Tennessee Valley have come to the Rocket City to compete.

Drivin' N Cryin' is the musical performer for Friday night. You can catch .38 Special on Saturday night.

There will also be a corn hole competition. The event is kid friendly, with a special BBQ cooking event going on for them.

Craft beer lovers will also be able to lounge in a new beer garden this year. Brews from several local breweries will be available.

You can buy tickets for the festival at the gate. It's $25 per day for adults, or $35 for a two-day pass.
