LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

One of the first serious reports of damage Monday came from the Bay Hill Marina. It's on the Tennessee River near the Limestone – Lauderdale County line. The National Weather Service determined an EF-3 Tornado hit the community.

It was a familiar sound throughout the Bay Hill Marina. Neighbors helping neighbors clear roads and pick up the pieces of their shattered lives. Debris scattered by high winds left resident counting their blessing and happy to be alive.

"We're great, I mean we're okay as far as I know," said homeowner Stacey Stanfield. "I know there's nobody killed in this immediate area, there was a guy that got hurt over here that was in that three story building."

Stanfield was amazed his renter survived.

"God loves that boy, I tell you what," Stanfield continued.  "He crawled out of the rubble. One of the neighbors saw him in the parking lot. He didn't know where he was and got taken to ECM."

The man who escaped from the home was sent to the hospital.
