DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Two people were arrested by DeKalb County sheriff's deputies on charges of looting from tornado-damaged property Tuesday.

57-year-old Marion Smith and 63-year-old Catherine Freeman of Attalla are charged with loitering and theft.

The pair were seen by a deputy loading items onto a trailer at a damaged building on County Road 4 around 10 a.m. Tuesday. The deputy was able to determine they did not own nor were given permission to be on the property.

The truck, trailer and their contents have been impounded.

Smith and Freeman were taken to the DeKalb County Jail and held on $3,000 bond each.
