SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) -

A 55-year-old Lake Charles woman died Sunday in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near the Cities Service exit in Sulphur.

Sulphur Police Department spokesman Mel Estess said Barbara Doucet Walker was traveling west in her 2005 Honda Accord around 6 p.m. when she lost control, left the roadway and struck some trees.

Estess and A.J. Powell, an accident scene reconstructionist for the Sulphur Police Department, said Walker was traveling at a high-rate of speed and was seen weaving in and out of traffic moments before the crash.

Estess said Walker was pronounced dead at the scene and was turned over to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office.

"The accident is still under investigation by Officer Powell," Estess said.

It was the second fatal accident this year in Sulphur.
