No. 3 Stanford leads the field with a three-stroke advantage over No. 4 California after the first day of the 2014 Pac-12 Championships, hosted at The Gallery Golf Club's North Course (par 72, 7,349) in Marana.

In the individual race, Patrick Rodgers of Stanford leads shooting six-under par.

Still in the second round, play was suspended for the evening. UA juniors Alex McMahon and Brenden Redfern led the Wildcats in the second round with scores of 53 (+1) through 13 and 60 (+1) through 15, respectively. Senior Erik Oja finished through 12 holes with a score of 52 (+4). Sophomore Kolton Lapa had a score of 61 (+5) through 14 holes. Senior Christian Colegrove finished 16 holes with a 69 (+5).  

"I was really happy with the way our team played," head coach Jim Anderson said. "The golf course conditions, as shown by the scores, are very difficult. Our team fought extremely hard in the first round. We knew we had to set the tone early and we accepted the challenge. It's up to us to continue this, and we know we can play with anyone here."

Round two will resume at 7 a.m. MST. Round three is expected to begin an hour after the completion of round two, approximately 10 a.m. MST.

Meanwhile up in Corvallis, Oregon, after battling hail and inclement weather on Friday, No. 11 University of Arizona women's golf sits in third place after day one at the Pac-12 Championships at Trysting Tee Golf Club (par 72, 6,256 yards).

Arizona led the team race by as many as three strokes on day one of play before being halted by inclement weather for a one hour and 27-minute delay. The Wildcats finished the day one-under par with a 287, good for a third-place standing.

No. 2 UCLA leads the team race with a three-under round of 285. No. 9 Stanford sits in second place with a two-under par score of 286. Mariko Tumangan of Stanford leads the individual race with a five-under par score of 67.

No. 13 sophomore Lindsey Weaver sits in second place after round one with a score of 68 (-4),
her 13th round at or below par this season. She is one stroke off the individual lead. Junior
Manon Gidali and No. 35 Wanasa Zhou share a four-way tie for 11th place. They both fired even-par rounds of 72. Friday's play marks Gidali's second and Zhou's sixth rounds at or below par on the season.

Round two begins at 9:40 a.m. MST/PT on Saturday for the Wildcats. Arizona is paired with No. 8 Washington. One round of play will be contested each day with 9 a.m. MST/PT tee times for Friday and Saturday and an 8:30 a.m. MST/PT start on Sunday.
