BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says they are investigating a fatal accident in Adamsville on Friday.

Deputies responded to the scene around 9:30 a.m. on a report that a pedestrian had been hit by a truck on Forestdale Boulevard at Hedgewood Drive. The adult male victim had been walking along the road when a pickup truck veered off the road and hit him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the incident.

The driver of the vehicle, 32-year-old Joseph Pool of Gardendale,  was taken into custody for questioning. He is facing a manslaughter charge and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $30,000 bond.

The victim has not yet been positively identified. The investigation is ongoing.
