Student organizes blood drive to honor tornado victims

MONROVIA, AL (WAFF) -

A Sparkman High School student has organized a blood drive and fire department open house to honor the victims of the April 27, 2011, tornado outbreak.

Erin Rountree is a junior at Sparkman High School and organized the event. Her father, Jim Rountree, works as the assistant chief for Monrovia Volunteer Fire and Rescue.

The event will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Monrovia VFD Station 1 located at 345 Mount Zion Road. Food will be served from noon until 2 p.m.
