HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Finding critical information regarding the White House assisted living facility, which closed to residents Thursday, turns out to be no easy task.

Though the information is free to access on the Alabama Department of Public Health website, getting the specific information you want – in this case, the Summary Statement of Deficiencies (PDF) related to the facility's license revocation – means jumping a few hurdles.

If you had no prior knowledge about the license revocation, you may jump on the site blind, clicking tab after tab searching for an obvious place to start. You will find your way once you check the Certificates, Licenses and Permits section.

From there, you go to Healthcare Facility License Application Materials. Your next click will be the ‘Facilities Home' link on the left sidebar, followed by a link buried within a paragraph on that page.

Your journey is not complete – that link, View Health Care Facility Deficiencies, takes you to another site.

From there, you have to click on ‘Facility Type' and then ‘Specialty Care Assisted Living Facility.'

There are two listings for DeKalb County; one with the correct spacing, and another with an incorrect space between the ‘E' and the ‘K.' Clicking the listing with the extra space brings you to the listings for the White House facility.

It takes a total of eight clicks, assuming you know where to go from the ADPH homepage in the first place.
