HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville and Madison Police, along with the Madison County Sheriff's Department, announced drop-off locations in Madison County for the National Drug Take Back Initiative.

People can stop by four drop-off areas on Saturday at the drive-thru between 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. to have expired or unwanted prescription medication safely disposed. If possible, authorities ask that tablets be removed from their original containers and place in plastic baggies.

Authorities released this list of drop-off locations:

  • Jaycee's Building located on 2180 Airport Road in Huntsville
  • CVS Pharmacy parking lot on Highway 231 and Patterson Lane across from the Publix in Huntsville
  • Madison City Hall located on 100 Hughes Road in Madison
  • The U.S. Space & Rocket Center on 1 Tranquility Base in Huntsville. People can also get documents shredded.

Authorities said the program is confidential and no personal information will be collected. People are asked to remove or black-out all labels on medication before dropping them off.
