MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A very special prom night took place Tuesday night in Marshall County, but it wasn't your typical high school event.

The county's special-needs adults got together for the annual Circle of Friends Prom at the old outlet mall in Boaz. Boaz High School left the decorations for the group after their prom last weekend.

The night was filled with dinner, pictures and lots of dancing. It was held by the St. Paul United Methodist Church to provide an accepting and loving environment.

"Every girl is prom queen; every boy is prom king," explained organizer Maria Eason. "Folks dress up and it's just the most exciting time for them and for us."

The church holds a special event for the group once a month throughout the year.
