ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

An Athens man was arrested Monday night, accused of stealing from his friend and his father.

Officers arrested Brian Ross McFarland. He is charged with illegal possession of a credit card, second-degree theft of property, and four counts of possession of a forged instrument.

Investigators said McFarland took his father's medication and a wallet containing cash and credit cards. They said McFarland later took four checks he found while helping clean a friend's shed and used them at Hometown Grocery.

McFarland was booked at the police department and later transferred to the county jail.
